Nursery Rhymes

“Singing can be done anywhere - in the car, on a walk, during bath time or around the house.” Burtie Bean

Nursery rhymes and songs help young children develop their language and communication skills. Keep singing them together, as rhyme and rhythm help children to hear the sounds and syllables in words, which can help with reading in the future.

“Introducing another language creates an appreciation for other cultures.” Burtie Bean

Learning a second language early in life can enhance cognitive skills. It is more than a linguistic activity; it enables young children to increase their critical thinking, creativity and problem-solving skills.

Musical Instruments

Listening to music with young children supports the building of the ‘pathways’ in their brains, as well as triggering a sensory experience. In this section, Burtie Bean plays ‘Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star’ on instruments to demonstrate the different sounds and tones they produce.

“Pretending to play the instrument whilst listening to the sound can be lots of fun” Burtie Bean
